Bitterness has many hues: sensual, existential and metaphysical. The artist examines the various spheres where it is experienced. There is bitterness in the taste of rust, intoxication with absinth, and the bitter-sweet feeling of love. These can be found in literature and in folk traditions: the poetry of Mickiewicz and Berezin, and the rites of Dziady and Zielone Świątki, where bitterness merges with the physical experience of a white voice. The performance is part of a triptych dedicated to the reinterpretation of Adam Mickiewicz’s Dziady (Forefathers’ Eve).
